The webmasters of the Geoffrey Bell Canadian Numismatic Resources website have been quietly, but consistently, adding documents to the website. Since last fall, we received permission to upload the price lists and auction catalogues for Ian A. Marshall (Toronto, ON), Nadin-Davis International Numismatics, Lincoln Heights Coin & Stamp and Arctic Coin (Ottawa) Inc. We have been also fixing and improving the image quality of documents already posted on the website. In conducting tests for a new platform to host the GBCNR website, we found that the OCR quality of many documents was inferior because of the poor resolution and/or colour contrasts of the scans.
An update on acquiring a new platform to host the GBCNR website, we’ve had to suspend testing with a company to search further afield for an application that was more suitable for both our needs and those of the users. We believe now that we have found an adequate (even brilliant!) platform that will provide excellent functionality, searchability and customization. We will formally announce the launch of the new GBCNR platform in the coming months. So stay tuned!
The Geoffrey Bell Canadian Numismatics Resources website has now over 1,400 documents and more than 55,000 pages of scanned content. Although there is still considerable material in the pipeline, we are always looking for more content to add the the GBCNR website. If you have anything to contribute, use our convenient submission form. Thanks to all our contributors who help us by providing content either to fill gaps or to improve quality.
